Layouts and Templates

Movie Magic Scheduling 10 keeps your design work in files you save once and reuse. A layout file carries one design. A template file carries a whole schedule setup.

Template, layout and report files are saved to your computer, not the Cloud.

Which File to Use

Board Layouts

Save the active board layout as an .MMSL file and load it into any schedule. Save and load it from the Board toolbar, or from the One-line Schedule report, since that report and the Board share one design. See Save and Load Layouts and One-line Schedule.

Report Layouts

Save a report layout as an .MMSR file and load it into any schedule. The Reports page also accepts .MMSL board layout files for the One-line Schedule report. See Save and Load Layouts.

Schedule Templates

A template carries your categories, custom fields, and report and strip designs into a new schedule, so you do not repeat that setup on every project. See Schedule Templates.

When a Category Is Missing

A layout loads even when it references a Category that is not in the current schedule. The load completes with a warning and leaves that field empty, so the rest of the layout still comes in.
